Insurance

All skaters registering in Creston Valley Skating Club programs are required to have Skate Canada insurance. This is a one-time-per season fee of $58.65 that will be applied at checkout. Skaters are not allowed on the ice until this fee is paid.

An important safety reminder: CSA-approved HOCKEY helmets are required for all skaters in Pre-Power/PowerSkate and CanSkate, including parent helpers in Beginner CanSkate. Academy skaters who have not yet passed CanSkate stage 5 are also required to wear helmets, including when they are skating on StarSkate ice. Bicycle helmets are NOT permitted.

Program Assistants

On-ice assistants for CanSkate and PowerSkate! Set up circuits, demonstrate skills, lead warm-ups and games – a great way to get more ice time while supporting the next generation of skaters. Our volunteer Program Assistants are a fundamental part of the Skating Club! To sign up, email crestonvalleyskatingclub@gmail.com. There will be a training session for all new and returning Program Assistants, September 30 and October 2, 4:30-5:15.

·        Commit to at least one CanSkate session Mondays and/or Thursday) per week

·        12 years and older, with skating skills sufficient to demonstrate and assist younger skaters

·        Assist with set-up beginning fifteen minutes prior to the session

·        Special end-of-the-year thank you!

Parent Helpers

Especially with our Beginner CanSkate classes, having parents on the ice can be a big help – someone familiar who can help new skaters balance. We welcome your help, but there are a few things you need to know:

Parent helpers MUST wear skates and helmets regardless of skating ability.

You need to have sufficient skating skills and confidence to support both yourself and your child.

Parent helpers MUST be registered with the Club and are required to pay the $58.65 SkateCanada insurance fee.

Only one parent helper per child on the ice at a time, please.
